I have been in Madrid just over three months. I am still a visitor.
Some cities have no equal. They stand alone, suspended by romanticized reputations built of cinematic allure. Even people who have never seen a map somehow have visions of these cities in their mind. Paris is such a place.
Over the weekend, our troupe of Anglos, all in Madrid to study Spanish and/or teach English, took advantage of the city's ideal location for a day trip to Toledo.
Madrid is a superb vacation destination, but we aren't on vacation. This is our lives now.
